Bioresources are different forms of living organisms (plant, animals, microbes) from terrestrial, marine and aquatic ecosystems that have value or potential to generate wealth and improve lives.Bioresources consist of “our total natural biological diversity of the components that have current potentials or economic value”. ThereforeresearchinBioresources, exploitation, development, conservation and preservation continues to attract both national and international attention. As an institution that intends to be part of the solution to the myriads of socio-economic and environmental problems currently confronting our contemporary human race, the University of Port Harcourt is therefore at the vanguard towards the understanding, development and conservation of the Bio-resources of the Niger Delta, the south-south region and indeed, the Nigerian nation, at large.
