UNIPORT CENTRES
CONSULTANCY, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (CORDEC)
INTRODUCTION
As early as 1987 and consistent with the government directive that Universities should explore ways and means of augmenting Government grants, the then Vice Chancellor muted the idea of establishing Centre for the development of Consultancy Services and research for the University. This idea was then galvanized and resulted to the establishment of CORDEC by the Council of the University who in its 31st meeting held on November 26, 1987 approved the recommendations of the Committee of Deans and the Development Committee. With this approval, Consultancy, Research and Development Centre (CORDEC) was born and subsumed UNIPORT-KONSULT to operate as a free enterprise arm of the University with a Director and a Board. The Council also noted that the idea of establishing the Centre was commendable, and hoped that it would succeed if the University allowed it a free hand to operate.
