ICAN To Equip Auditorium Soon By Otikor Samuel

Acting Head of the Department of Accounting, Dr. Uwaoma Ironkwe, has revealed that plans have reached advanced stages for the furnishing of the 350-capacity lecture hall donated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) to the Department.

In response to inquiries made by our Correspondent, Dr. Oronkwe disclosed that his recent contacts within the Council confirmed that concerted effort were on to equip the lecture hall before the expiration of the tenure of Mr. Isma'ila Zakari in May 2018.

Mr. Zakari said the turn-key project was in keeping with the promise ICAN made at the project commissioning ceremony last December, at which he promised to equip the lecture hall. The 53rd ICAN President, who commissioned the building on Monday, December 4, 2017, gave assurance that the Institute would fully equip the building before the end of May 2018.

It would be recalled that a visibly enthused Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ndowa Lale, had expressed gratitude to ICAN for the timely completion of the project within six months. He expressed hope that the new lecture hall would reduce the challenge of classroom congestion in the Faculty.

“In my 35 years of working in the University, this is probably the fastest project completed by an organisation that I have witnessed,” the Vice-Chancellor said. Goodwill message was presented by Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Professor Barisua Nwinee and other dignitaries.
