RCS Dept Receives Book Donation From US-Based Benefactor By Ethel Timi-Johnson with Christiana Osarollo (Intern)

 

The Religious and Cultural Studies Department in the Faculty of Humanities has received a total of 233 books and journals on religious and cultural studies donated by Rosalind Hackett of Tennessee University, Knoxville, United States of America.

Briefing UniPort News on the donation, immediate past Head of the Department, Professor Wellington Wotogbe-Weneka, disclosed that the donation was the outcome of his appeal for books to stock the Departmental Library.  “Following my appeal, a Senior Lecturer in the Department, Dr. Justice Gbule reached out to Mrs. Hackett in the United States of America. Her favourable response to the appeal is the reason we are gathered here today,” he noted. Professor Wotogbe-Weneka also remarked that the donor has requested that the books be put to judicious use for the maximum benefit of staff and students.

Receiving the books, Acting Head of Department, Dr. Ngozi Iheanacho, commended the donor for having the interest of the Department at heart. He also expressed gratitude to Professor Wotogbe-Weneka for facilitating the donation, promising that the books would be put to proper use by staff and students of the Department in advancing research. “We are going to make good use of the books to advance our Department and the University at large,” Dr. Iheanacho assured the donor.
