Hart Donates First Aid Kits to Student Union

The Acting Director, School of Basic Studies, Dr Josiah Hart, has donated First Aid kits worth hundreds of thousands of naira to the Students’ Union of the University of Port Harcourt. The kits comprise First Aid Box, where medical supplies are kept. It is to be used to tackle emergency health challenges amongst the students in order to save lives.

Making the presentation at his office in Basic Studies Complex, on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, Dr Hart said, the donation was borne out of his genuine desire to help save lives of students in case of any emergency health challenges before being taken to the health centre or hospital.

“I feel it is imperative to assist the students meet their healthcare needs. It will be useful to them. As a teacher, I have seen some students that have attacks and other minor health crises. In most cases, no first aid kits were available for use in handling such emergencies,” Dr Hart stated.

Dr Hart urged the students to keep the First Aid kits in the official vehicle of the Students’ Union and make it accessible to all students, promising that he would always be available to provide support to the Union as the need may arise.

Receiving the donation, the Student Union President, Gift Ubabuike, expressed appreciation to Dr Hart for his kind gesture. He praised him for according top priority to the healthcare needs of the students, promising that the First Aid Box would be used judiciously for the purpose for which it was donated.

The First Aid Box contains lists of drugs and information on what they are used for, the dosages to enable the non-medical personnel administer first Aid when the need arises.
