Agberia Obtains CAA-Getty Grant By Otikor Samuel

Professor John Agberia of the Department of Fine Arts and Design, Faculty of Humanities, is one of 15 Art Historians and Curators, who secured the Getty-sponsored grant to participate in the 106th Annual Conference of the College Art Association (CAA). The programme will run in partnership with the Getty International Program in Los Angeles, California. The 15 benefitting scholars emerged successful following a rigorous screening process of 42 initial applicants who applied for the Grant. 
Breaking the cheering news to UniPort News, new Head of the Department, Professor Florence Nduka, expressed delight over the development which came few days after her appointment.
A letter dated October 2, 2017 and signed by the Project Director, CAA-Getty International Program, Janet Landay, which was forwarded to Professor Agberia read in part: “I am pleased to inform you that you have been awarded a grant to participate in the CAA-Getty International Program at the College Art Association’s 106th Annual Conference in Los Angeles, California, from February 19-24, 2018. Funded by a generous grant from the Getty Foundation, you are one of fifteen Art Historians and Curators to be selected from a large group of highly competitive applicants.”
The grant will cover air fare, ground transportation to and from Los Angeles, hotel accommodation, one-year membership of the CAA-Getty, conference fee, amongst sundry expenses.
