Mgt Commissions Education Faculty ICT Lab

Management of the University has commended the Dean, Professor Tammy Orunaboka and staff of the Faculty of Education for exposing students to Information and Communication Technology in a conducive learning environment.

Speaking during the commissioning of an ICT laboratory, a lecture auditorium and classroom facilities, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Hakeem Fawehinmi, who stood in for the Vice Chancellor, commended the leadership of the Faculty for ensuring that the TETFund-assisted ICT laboratory and the lecture auditorium are put to proper use for the benefit of the students.

“We are happy that TETFund intervention has made the realization of this facility possible. As we all know, ICT has become a veritable tool for effective education in Nigeria and it is important that staff and students must be conversant with this new interactive process of teaching and learning,” Professor Fawehinmi said. Despite the weak signals reported by the Dean, the Deputy Vice Chancellor described the ICT laboratory as a good start. He also promised that Management would address the problem to enable the Faculty engage in effective learning.

Earlier, the Dean, Professor Orunaboka, commended Management of the University for supporting the project, expressing gratitude to his colleagues who were instrumental to the realisation of the projects and for supporting his leadership.

Professor Orunaboka recalled that TETFund donated the ICT laboratory, while the chairs were donated by Professor Peter Kpolovie. “We are grateful to Management for supporting our modest effort and for ensuring that these facilities and structure are put to proper use. We are still appealing to Management to facilitate access to the University Cloud to avail us strong Internet signal,” Professor Orunaboka appealed.
