Mgt Goes Tough On Illegal Structures In Residential Areas

Are you an occupant of campus residential quarters? Did you construct illegal structures for purposes other than residence use as contained in the University Tenancy Agreement? If you fall into this category, then there is plain bad news for you.
This is because the Management of the University has directed affected residents to demolish all such structures on or before Sunday, June 14, 2020 or face appropriate sanctions.
The Registrar, Mrs Dorcas Otto, handed down the directive to all staff residing in campus residential quarters in a statement dated June 1, 2020 and signed on her behalf by the Housing Officer, Mr Emmanuel Asoka.
Quoting Section (2) (9) 1 of the Regulations Governing Provision of Quarters by the University to its Senior Staff, the statement pointed out that “an occupier of the quarters provided by the University shall undertake to use the quarters for residential purposes only.”
The Management, therefore, directed staff who constructed illegal structures for commercial fish farming, poultry, industrial tailoring factory, ice block industry, provisions stores and other commercial purposes to remove all such structures within two weeks. The ultimatum will end on Sunday, June 14, 2020, after which appropriate sanctions would be levied against defaulters, including demolition of such structures and revocation of allocation.
The statement mandated the Chief Security Officer to strictly monitor the close-down of all businesses operating at the residential quarters and ensure total compliance with the directive within the stipulated timeline.
