Ogali Oversees Office As Lale Commences Leave

Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Regina Ogali, has assumed office, following the commencement of Annual Leave by the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Ndowa Lale. Professor Ogali is empowered to oversee the affairs of the University, until a substantive Vice Chancellor is appointed.

The brief handover ceremony which took place in the Vice Chancellor’s Office, marked the process of disengagement of Professor Lale from Office as the 8th Vice Chancellor of the University. The event took place on Thursday, June 11, 2020, a day prior to the commencement of his Leave on Friday (June 12), a Public Holiday that marked Democracy Day celebration in Nigeria.

The handover was in line with a directive from the Office of the Honourable Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, which authorised Professor Lale to commence his Annual Leave on Friday, June 12, 2020. A letter dated Friday, May 29, 2020 and signed on behalf of the Honourable Minister by the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education, Architect Sonny Echono, directed Professor Lale to handover to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Ogali who shall oversee the affairs of the institution until a substantive Vice Chancellor is appointed.

The outgoing Vice Chancellor is expected to finally disengage from office on Sunday, July 12, 2020, when his tenure will come to an end. It would be recalled that Professor Lale assumed Office on Monday, 13th July, 2015 for a single five-year tenure.
