Professor Ethelbert Chinaka Nduka is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) and the University Statistician in the University of Port Harcourt.    He rose from Graduate Assistant in 1981 to become Professor in 2005 through diligence, hard work and conscious self-discipline. He is a two-time Head, Department of Maths/Statistics/Computer Science,1997-1999 and 2003-2005 respectively. He was elected Dean, Faculty of Science, July 2008-July 2010 by his colleagues who have trust and confidence in his abilities.  He holds B.Sc. (Hons), Second Class Honors Upper Division (1980), M.Sc. (1985), from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka and a Ph.D. (1994) from upscale University of Ibadan (all in Statistics).

 

Professor Nduka is a member of Science Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Statistical Association, Nigerian Mathematical Society, International Biometric Society, USA, Statistical Modeling Society, Netherlands and West African Research and Innovation Management Association and Statistics Without Borders (an international NGO).
 

He has published over 52 Articles mostly in international journals of repute and as Conference Proceedings and has 6 University Texts including a high profile text on Regression Analysis. He has served as external examiner and assessor to several Nigerian Universities and has been Chairman and member of NUC Accreditation panels. He is a member of the editorial board of Journal of Nigerian Statistical Association and serves as reviewer to International and local peer reviewed journals. He has supervised and mentored several Masters and Ph.D degrees students.

 

Professor Nduka has attended seven (Local and International) workshops and Courses.  He has received 12 merit awards (local and international) and has as research interest statistical modeling in biometric studies and outliers in regression analysis.

 

He enjoys reading (Biographies, Current Affairs and Philosophy), listening to Classical and Country Music and watching Musical concerts.

He is happily married to Prof. (Mrs.) Florence O. Nduka, Director, Research and Publications, Abia State University.  The marriage is blessed with four children.
