POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

The Postgraduate Diploma Programme is purposely designed to meet the needs of graduates who normally do not have a business/management background and who wish to develop skills in the full range of management discipline. UPBS admits students with wide range of subject backgrounds who find this conversion programme of value to them.

The PGDprogramme provides basic courses in Economics, General Business Administration, Finance, Marketing and Accounting which may enable graduates of the program to gain entry into the Executive MBA program of the UPBS or into another Executive MBA programmme in other higher institutions. Successful completion of the PGDprogramme with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 or higher qualifies a candidate to apply for admission into the Executive MBA program of UPBS.

Options and Duration of the Programme
The UPBS post-graduate diploma programme is designed to be completed in one year of 12 calendar months. The PGDprogramme is offered as two options, a weekday option and a weekend option. Weekday option courses are offered two days a week, while the weekend option courses are offered Friday evening and Saturday to suit the convenience of the busy young executive.

EXECUTIVE MBA OR MODULAR MBA PROGRAMMES
The Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA)
The Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) is designed to meet the needs of the working mature student, usually a middle or senior level manager, who is busy during the week but who needs additional management skills to excel in the work place. These are usually people who occupy leadership positions in industry, government, and non-profit organizations. The EMBA addresses the needs of students who can come in to school on certain days of the week as well as those who can come in to school only on weekends.

Duration of the EMBAProgramme
The Executive MBA programme is designed to be completed in a minimum of one year. The programme is offered on weekdays (2 days a week) or alternatively on weekends (Friday and Saturday) to suit the convenience of the busy hard-working executive. All courses are grouped into logically consistent modules that are taught and examined on completion.   Additionally, academically oriented students could earn credits by attending regularly organized Executive Development short courses.

The Modular Masters in Business Administration (MMBA)
The Modular Masters in Business Administration (MMBA) is also designed to meet the needs of the working mature student, usually a senior level manager, who is very busy during the week and unable to come to regularly scheduled classes weekday or weekend but can take a week off every few months. These are usually people who occupy leadership positions in industry, government, and non-profit organizations. Thus the MMBA addresses the needs of students who can come in to school for a full week (6 days) every few months, and can proceed on the modular MBA at their own pace.

Duration of the MMBAProgramme
The Modular MBA programme is designed to be completed, not in a fixed period of time, but at the student’s rate of progress. Usually, students complete the modular MBA programme within 24 months of starting but in not more than 60 months. The programme utilizes the case-analysis method of instruction. Courses are offered in modules lasting one week, twice a year. Courses are grouped into logically consistent modules that are taught and examined at the end of the 6-day week of instruction.
