EXCHANGE STUDENTS (AIESEC)


Between July 2010 and February 2011 fifteen (15) International Students (AIESEC Interns) were on exchange programme to the University of Port Harcourt. They were involved in five (5) Projects which benefited the immediate community and our undergraduate students.

 

  • Project ‘A.S.K’ (Answers, Solutions and Knowledge on HIV/AIDS) lasted 6 weeks. Aim was to educate young adults on HIV/AIDS: University Demonstration Secondary School (UDSS), Aluu and Olobo Premier College, East-West Road were beneficiaries. Kamilla Manke (German) and Dorica Kabzinga (Tanzanian) were involved in this project.

 

  • Project ‘CLEAN’ (Creating A Livable Environment Around Nigeria) lasted 6 weeks. Aim was to educate people on the need for a sustainable environment: Alakahia Community was the beneficiary. Carrie Chicky (Tanzanian ) and Tatiane Cardoso (Brazilian) led the project group.

 

  • Project ‘The Nigerian Child’. Lasted 6 weeks. Aim was to teach nursery and primary school children leadership and integrity values, how to act sustainably, living diversity and striving for excellence: Right Start Academy, East-West Road benefited from the project. Naim Dantatah (Ghanian), Ange Kanon (Ivorian) and Stefan Klohi (Ivorian) participated in this project.

 

  • Project ‘SwITch Nigeria’. Lasted 6 weeks. Aim was to educate young adults on basic computer skills: UDSS and Olobo Premier College were beneficiaries. Ryan Dhalke (American) and Kevin Morales (Mexican) were leaders in this project with cooperation from Zoom Mobile and ICTC, UNIPORT.

 

  • Project ‘YES’ (Young Entrepreneurs). Lasted 6 weeks. Aimed at improving the entrepreneurial skills of UNIPORT students and was carried out at the International Students’ Centre Conference Hall. Alexander Liu Chen Hao (Chinese), Marianna Duarte-Franca Castro (Brazilian), Josh Mwakalikamo (Tanzanian), Katrin Heigel (German), Johannes Klienhempel (German), and Michelle Meza Reusche (Peruvian) were involved in the project in conjunction with Quantum Business School.
