INTRODUCTION

Department of Educational management offers a four-year Bachelor Science/Education (B.Sc; Ed) degree. Instruction is by course work and seminar. source assessment consists of continuous assessment and an course examination. Students are required to take any approved combination or course as Senate on the recommendation of the faculty of Education may determine from time to time

HISTORY

Department of Educational Management was created on October 1st along with three other Departments in the faculty. Prior to this, and other faculties of the University, the department of Educational Management, along with the other departments of the Faculty, shares the vision and mission statement of the faculty of Education. It houses students who offer social science courses in a four- year academic programme for the award of the Bachelor of Social Science in Education Ed) degree. Students of the Department choose their teaching subjects from Economics, Political Science and Administrative studies, Geography and Environmental management, and Accounting.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates are required to have five credits at the GCE, SSCE, NECO, including a credit pass in English Language, Mathematics and Economics more than two sittings. Success in the UTME examination at a recommended cut-off mark is also required. In addition, candidate must the University PUTME Screening Test. Candidates can also qualify admission; if they obtain a credit level pass in the University of Port Harcourt certificate programme or from any other recognized University.

PHILOSOPHY

To develop in staff and students the spirit of hard work, discipline and other values needed for the development of a nation as well as commitment to national ideals.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Develop skilled educational managers for the primary and post primary   levels of education.
Develop professionally competent teachers in a defined field of Study.
Prepare students who can take postgraduate studies in a defined professional area of Education Social Science.
Train students who can adopt their managerial skills to the challenges of Nigerian economy
