Hon. Tein Jackrich Foundation Scholarship Award Ceremony Empowers 100 Uniport Students
The University of Port Harcourt hosted the prestigious Hon. Tein Jackrich Foundation Scholarship Scheme award ceremony on January 30, 2025, at the CBN Centre of Excellence Auditorium. The event marked a significant milestone in the Institution’s commitment to fostering academic excellence through financial support.
On behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff, Students, and Strategic Partners, the University extends profound gratitude to His Excellency, Hon. Tein Jackrich, for his remarkable generosity and unwavering commitment to education. The institution acknowledges Sir Jackrich’s philanthropic contributions, which continue to bridge financial gaps for students in need. This noble initiative enables beneficiaries to focus on their academic pursuits without the burden of financial constraints.
Speaking at the event, the Benefactor, Hon. Tein Jackrich, represented by Engr. Rev. Collins Amadi, emphasized that education is not merely a pathway to career development but also a vital tool for personal growth and societal impact.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt reiterated his passion for ensuring accessible higher education for all. He highlighted the necessity of engaging strategic partners willing to invest in students’ futures, emphasizing that with just ₦100,000, a student’s academic journey can be significantly supported. He noted that Hon. Tein Jackrich has consistently contributed to the University’s development since 2018.
The Hon. Tein Jackrich Foundation Scholarship Scheme awarded a total of ₦10 million to 100 students, providing each recipient with ₦100,000 to support his/her academic expenses.
To the scholarship recipients, the Vice-Chancellor extended heartfelt congratulations. He urged them to recognize this award as not just a recognition of their academic diligence and discipline but also as a testament to an individual’s unshakable belief in the Nigerian dream. He reminded them that great opportunities come with great responsibilities and encouraged them to remain committed to their studies while upholding the values of integrity, diligence, and excellence that the scholarship represents.
