Kaniye S.A. Ebeku

Kaniye S.A. Ebeku received his PhD in Law from the University of Kent, UK 2002, LLM degree from the University of London (LSE College) 1988, and LLB from the Rivers State University 1985. He is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, having been called to the Bar in 1986. Currently, he is a Professor of Public Law at the University of Port Harcourt. He served as the pioneer Dean of Law at the University of Port Harcourt. Earlier, he had served as the Head of the Department of Jurisprudence & International Law, Rivers State University, Dean of Law at the University of Calabar, and Head of Law Department, University of Nicosia, Cyprus. Outside the University system, he served couple of years as Commissioner for Education in the Government of Rivers State. Professor Ebeku is an avid researcher and has published scholarly articles in several reputable international learned law journals such as the Review of European Community and International Environmental Law, International Energy Law and Taxation Review, Statute Law Review, African Journal of International and Comparative Law, Journal of African Law, African Human Rights Law Journal, and the Nordic Journal of African Studies. Professor Ebeku has successfully supervised over 10 PhD students both in Nigeria and in Europe, and has served as external examiner as well. He is a leading authority on Nigerian environmental law, with particular regard to the Niger Delta oil-related environmental issues. Recently, he published a journal article titled ‘Assessing the Performance of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) 2001 – 2020: Another Failed Dream’. His most popular publications include his two books entitled Oil and the Niger Delta People in International Law (Rüdiger Köppe Verlag, Germany 2006), and The Succession of Faure Gnassingbe to the Togolese Presidency: An International Law Perspective (Uppsala, Sweden 2005).


Dr. (Mrs.) Grace Ahiakwo

Dr. (Mrs.) Grace Ahiakwo is Lecturer 1 in the Department of Private and Property Law, Faculty of Law, University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State of Nigeria. She is a distinguished private legal practitioner with a remarkable career spanning over 18 years. Admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 2006, she has dedicated her professional life to the pursuit of justice, specializing in various areas of law and in the legal research and education. She has served as a Reviewer for the International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Science (IJRISS) and as an Assistant Editor to International Journal of Law. Her contributions to legal scholarship are evident through numerous scholarly articles published in both national and international journals.

In acknowledgment of the dynamic shifts in the legal landscape, Dr Grace has undertaken a skills training in mediation advocacy and is an Associate member in the Standing Conference of Mediation Advocates (UK). Aside this, she is a certified Mediator with the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) as well as an Arbitrator with the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (NICARB). Her academic journey includes the attainment of a Professional Diploma in Education, a Masters in Comparative Family Law/Human Rights Law, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Property and Compensation Law.
