Dr KASSO Terhemen MBBS, FWACS, FMCOG, MSc-PRH, FICS

Terhemen Kasso is a Senior Lecturer and a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the College of Health Sciences, University of Port Harcourt and University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.

She obtained a medical degree from the College of Health Sciences, University of Jos, Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons, Fellowship of the Medical College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists – National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Fellowship of the International College of Surgeons, and a Master of Science degree in Population and Reproductive Health.

She is passionate about improving women’s health and actively participates in trainings, programs, and activities that contribute to the prevention of maternal/perinatal mortality, promotion and improvement of reproductive health of the society.

She is involved in research and medical education of undergraduates and postgraduates, contributing immensely in imparting knowledge and skills within the specialty. She is a trainer, an examiner, including serving in various capacities in the Faculty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and the West African College of Surgeons.

She has several articles published in reputable peer-reviewed journals and is also a member of several learned societies and professional associations.


Dr. ALEGBELEYE, Justina Omoikhefe

Dr. ALEGBELEYE, Justina Omoikhefe MBBS (UPH), MSc-PRH, FWACS, FICS

Justina Omoikhefe ALEGBELEYE is a Senior Lecturer and Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the College of Health Sciences, University of Port Harcourt, and University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital respectively, with special interest in Gynaecologic Oncology especially preventive oncology.

She holds a medical degree from the College of Medicine, University of Port Harcourt, Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons, Fellowship of the International College of Surgeons, and a Master of Science degree in Population and Reproductive Health.

She has over 17 years’ experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 10 of which have been at the specialist level. She provides secondary as well as tertiary management of gynaecological cancers.

She has a passion for medical education and research, always striving to broaden and enrich knowledge, learning, and skills within the specialty. She is very active in post graduate medical education activities in the West Africa College of Surgeons serving as an examiner in the Faculty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Dr. Justina Alegbeleye has several published articles in reputable peer reviewed journals. She holds the Membership of several Learned Societies, in addition to rendering distinguished services to numerous professional associations and championing good causes in her community and the larger society. She is also a member of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) Focused Cancer Care Committee.


Prof. Rosemary Ogu

Professor Rosemary Ogu is a distinguished Obstetrician/Gynaecologist at the University of Port Harcourt and an associate Faculty at Ariadne Labs, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard School of Public Health, Boston Massachusetts.

Graduating with distinction (MB.BS) from the University of Benin in 1999, her residency training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from 2003-2008 earned her fellowships from both the West-African-College-of-Surgeons, & the National-Postgraduate-Medical-College-of-Nigeria (FWACS, FMCOG). Ogu has an MSc in Reproductive Health from the World-Bank Africa-Centre-of-Excellence in Reproductive Health Innovation (CERHI), University of Benin (MScRH).

A prominent advocate for Sexual-Reproductive-Health & Rights, Prof. Ogu leads research activities for Adolescents and Women’s Health and has authored over 80 publications in peer-reviewed journals/books.

Prof Ogu was Principal Investigator of the Ford Foundation Increasing access to Youth Friendly Services, the World Diabetes Foundation Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Control Program in the Niger Delta  & the British Council Nigeria-Stability-&-Reconciliation-Program for the prevention of gender-based violence and the establishment of virtual safe spaces and Observatory on Violence against Women and Girls in Nigeria.

Prof. Ogu is the 24th National President of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria & Faculty Board Member of the National-Postgraduate-Medical-College of Nigeria NPMCN– the Apex Institution for the training of postgraduate medical doctors.

Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology & Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Port Harcourt. Honorary consultant Gynaecologist, University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Port Harcourt.

Areas of interest/subspecialty:

  1. Reproductive endocrinology
  2. Infertility and Assisted conception.
  3. Minimal invasive surgery

He has over 55 publications in international and local journals. His research area covers Polycystic ovaries, evaluations of investigative tools used in evaluating infertility, pregnancy outcomes in assisted conception in advanced women, risks and outcomes of multiple gestations and others.

He is also a peer reviewer to both local and international journals He is married with 3 adult children.


Prof. Goddy Bassey

Prof. Goddy Bassey MBBS (UPH),FWACS, FMCOG

Dr G. Bassey is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences and an Honorary Consultant at the University of Port Harcourt teaching hospital.

He graduated from the University of Port Harcourt Medical School in 1999 and he is a fellow of both the West African College of Surgeons and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. He had an observership in Gynae Oncology at the prestigious Edmond Odette cancer centre of SunnyBrook hospital in Toronto which ignited his passion for gynaecological oncology.

Prof Bassey has an unparallel passion for teaching and learning and has performed several obstetric and gynaecological surgeries with the aim of improving women health. He has over 60 publications in reputable foreign and local journals especially in gynae oncology. Prof. Bassey has won several awards and he is a member of several professional organizations. He is happily married Engr Joyce kunenu-Bassey and their union is blessed with four sons. He loves reading and playing table tennis at his spare time.


PROFESSOR COSMOS EZEMONYE ENYINDAH

Professor Cosmos Ezemonye Enyindah is a native of Elele – Alimini in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

He attended State School 1, Elele – Alimini, Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Borikiri, Port Harcourt and University of Port Harcourt for his Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Education respectively.

He obtained the B. Med.Sc degree (2nd Class Upper Division) in Pharmacology and M.B.B.S degree of University of Port Harcourt in 1984 and 1987 respectively.

He had his residency training in Obstetrics / Gynaecology at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching hospital and Reproductive Health Research Methodology course at University of Witzwaterstrands, Johannesburg, South Africa.

He was employed as Consultant, Obstetrician / Gynaecologist at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital and lecturer 1 at the University of Port Harcourt in October 2003. He rose through the ranks to become Professor in 2014.

He has served the University in various capacities; Head of department, Obstetrics and Gynaecology (January 2012 – January 2014), Director, Institute of Maternal and Child Health (March 2017 – March 2019), Member, Senate Committee on Academic Programmes and Policies (November 2023 to date) amongst others.

His area of research interest is fertility regulation.
