Dr Amieibibama Joseph

Dr Amieibibama Joseph is an Associate Professor of Petroleum & Gas Engineering, and the immediate past Head of Department (HOD), Petroleum & Gas Engineering, University of Port Harcourt. He is currently the Deputy Director of the Institute of Petroleum and Energy Studies (IPES), University of Port Harcourt. Dr Joseph holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) and Masters of Engineering (M.Eng) degrees from the University of Port Harcourt; and Masters of Science (MSc) and PhD degrees from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom. He has to his credit a book on Managing Liquid Loading in Gas Wells and has authored and co-authored chapters of books and over sixty technical articles in learned Journals and conferences. Professionally, he has served in different capacities at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) nationally and internationally. He was the Chairman of Society of Petroleum Engineers and currently a Section Director of Society of Petroleum Engineers, Port Harcourt Section. He is a member of SPE International Production & Operations Award Committee, Dallas, Texas USA and Co-Chair 1, Technical Paper Committee, SPE Nigerian Council and the Chairman SPENC-NCDMB Collaboration Committee (R&D). Dr Joseph has several notable awards to his credit among which are: Mr. Egbert Imomoh Distinguished Service Award, 2022, G.K Falade & Chi.U. Ikoku Distinguished Achievement Award for Petroleum Engineering Faculty, 2021 and the Engr. Andy Olutu Production & Operations Award 2020. Dr Joseph is a member of Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), a registered Engineer with COREN, and a consultant.
Dr. Toyin Olabisi Odutola

Dr. Toyin Olabisi Odutola is an Associate Professor at the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering and the Assistant Director at Emerald Energy Institute, University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT). She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from the African University of Science and Technology (AUST) and a doctorate in petroleum engineering from UNIPORT.
She is trained in Flow Assurance at the Center for Hydrate Research at the Colorado School of Mines, USA. She designed and fabricated Nigeria’s first hydrate flow loop, and her work was featured by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in 2022. She has three patents, a published monograph and several peer-reviewed papers in reputable journals. She was a visiting scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, in 2020. She is a fellow of the MIT Empowering the Teachers Programme (MIT-ETT), USA and a fellow of the Nigeria Science Leadership Programme (N-SLP).
Dr Odutola is a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), she is a corporate member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChe). Dr Odutola has received several awards, the most recent of which is the 2024 SPE Africa Regional Distinguished Achievement Award for Petroleum Engineering Faculty Award.

I am a lecturer in the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering, University of Port Harcourt. My university career started as a basic student to study Petroleum Engineering at the prestigious University of Port Harcourt. Here, I obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) Degree with Second Class (Hons) Upper Division. I proceeded to undergo the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). After this, I enrolled for a Masters of Engineering (M.Eng.) Degree in Petroleum Engineering (Reservoir Option) and concluded it within the stipulated time. Again, I was nominated by the University of Port Harcourt for a programme in France titled “University Lecturers’ Skill Enhancement Programme”. My quest for knowledge persuaded me to enrol for a Ph.D. in the same university. I am also an Associate member with the National Registry for Environmental Professional (NREP) USA. As a sound teacher who has deep understanding of Engineering courses, I have produced thousands of graduates that are doing exceedingly well globally. In addition to the above, I have fundamental background in problem-solving and a sound understanding of engineering concepts. I am self- motivated with the capacity or potential to make effective individual contributions within a functional team. Finally, I have good organisational, accurate analytical and planning skills which enable me to meet deadlines and targets.
