OKOROAFOR, DORCAOKAYO i san Academic Laboratory Technologist at the University of Port Harcourt’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Head of the Central Research Laboratory for Phytomedicine, Department of Pharmacognosy and Phytotherapy. Her responsibilities include managing the laboratory, maintaining equipment, and ensuring health and safety procedures are followed. She also supervise and train staff and students, manage budgets and resources, and conduct risk assessments. As a member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Committee, she contribute to the development of research projects and initiatives. With 14 years experience, Okoroafor, Dorcas Okayo’s skills include laboratory operations, technical expertise in pharmacognosy and phytotherapy, leadership, and health and safety management.
Professor Orish Ebere Orisakwe

Prof Orish Ebere Orisakwe is a well-grounded scientist that has integrated complementary scientific domains, to create the field of Environmental Pharmacotoxicology EPT. With over 350 scholarly publications he has collaborated with and influenced the work of over 1000 scientists in many countries. Through his collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), Global Environmental Monitoring System, the University of Port Harcourt was made a Center of Excellence for the Food Monitoring and Assessment Program (GEMS/Food Program) in Nigeria.
He mounted the first stand-alone graduate program in Toxicology in Africa which was instrumental in the establishment of African Centre of Excellence for Public Health and Toxicological Research (ACE-PUTOR) at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He has supervised over 24 PhD students some of whom are Professors outside Nigeria. Prof Orisakwe was a founding member and pioneer President of the West African Society of Toxicology (WASOT) and has been instrumental in the organization of the annual meetings of this Society. Professor Orisakwe has garnered several accolades for his work: Fellow of European Registered Toxicologist; Fellow of Academy Toxicological Sciences, USA (First African); WINNER, 2012 Society of Toxicology (USA) Global Senior Scholar Exchange program. He has served on several prestigious national, international committees and think tanks.

Professor Jonah Sydney Aprioku

Jonah Sydney Aprioku is a Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the Department of Experimental Pharmacology & Toxicology, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He is an accomplished pharmacist, pharmacologist and toxicologist. He obtained his B.Pharm degree from the University of Benin and his MSc and PhD degrees from the University of Port Harcourt. Professor Aprioku has been teaching and conducting research in pharmacology and toxicology within and outside the University of Port Harcourt for over 15 years. Professor Aprioku was promoted to Associate Professor in 2015 and Full Professor in 2018. He has supervised over 20 postgraduate research projects (including 4 PhDs), and continuously provides mentorship to many. He has authored over 70 original research articles and presented many scientific papers at local and international workshops and conferences. He is an Editorial Board member and Reviewer for reputable journals and also member of many professional bodies. He has held prominent academic and administrative positions and is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the University of Port Harcourt. He has served as External Examiner for undergraduate, MSc and PhD candidates in various universities within and outside Nigeria. He has also served as Accreditation Team Leader and Member to different universities and has won many meritorious awards, including, Top Performer Award by the University of Port Harcourt in 2023.
Professor Aprioku is recognized as a high-ranking scientist being among the listed top African Scientists in the University Ranking 2021 by AD Scientific Index. He is an acknowledged researcher in the areas of reproductive pharmacology, phytomedical research and toxicology. His research focus is on reproductive pharmacology/toxicology; profiling compounds with potential capacity to influence reproductive physiology or disease, and unravelling the mechanisms. He is also working on the dynamics and impact of environmental toxicants exposure on human health and animal physiology. He has research collaboration currently with the University of Bristol, United Kingdom (researching on Digital Health Innovation: technological tools and management of diseases) where he has appointment as a Visiting Professor.

Professor Lucky Legbosi Nwidu
Prof Lucky Legbosi Nwidu was born to the family of Chief Nwidu Olorka and Mrs. Jennet Deekae Nwidu of Opuoko Town in Nyo-khana Local Government area of Rivers State, Nigeria. He commenced his primary education in State Primary school Opuoko in 1972 and passed the First School Leaving Certificate in 1977. He was a pioneer student of Government Secondary School (GSS) Lumene, Bangha in September 1977. With a burning desire to study science subjects, he left GSS Lumene for Ascension High School, Eleme in 1980.
He attended the Rivers State School of Health Technology Port Harcourt as Public Health Superintendent in training to study Environmental Health in 1984. He passed the West African Health Examination Board (WAHEB) exam with Distinction in 1987. He worked briefly with the Ministry of Health Port Harcourt. He proceeded to study Bachelor of Pharmacy at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife Osun State in 1990; He passed the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree examination with Distinction in 1997. He did his internship in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital in 1998. He got MSc in Pharmacology from the University of Port Harcourt in 2002 and Ph.D in Pharmacology from University of Uyo in 2010. He obtained the West African Postgraduate college of Pharmacy fellowship from the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacy. He taught pharmacology and Toxicology to undergraduates and postgraduate’s students; supervised over seventy (70) B. Pharm projects; over ten West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists projects; tour MSc. Projects and one PhD project.
His research work took him to Institute of Chemistry of Sao Paulo State University, as Predoctoral Fellow from February – August, 1979 and as a two-time Postdoctoral Fellow to University of Nottingham in April – August 2014 and 2015. He was currently an invited Speaker at the Exchange and Dialogue Forum of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University at the World Forum of Traditional Medicine to be held on the 16 -20th May, 2024.
Prof Lucky Legbosi Nwidu is a Consultant Clinical Pharmacist, Prof Lucky Legbosi Nwidu is a Servant of the Most-High God. Prof Lucky Legbosi Nwidu is a family man, husband to his amiable wife Mrs. S.S. Nwidu, he is a father to his lovely daughter, Miss T.B. Nwidu.
His research work is focused on identifying putative medicinal plant extracts and fractions and edible food extracts with significant secondary metabolites that exhibit anti-acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity, that could limit cholinergic deficit; serve as hepatoprotectives, neuroprotectives, cardioprotectives and nephroprotectives.
He has over seventy publications published in numerous local and international learned scientific journals. A collection of his published works can be found on ResearchGate and Google Scholar platform.

Dr. Olusayo Aderonke Shorinwa

Olusayo Aderonke Shorinwa, PhD, is a Senior Lecturer in the Experimental Pharmacology and Toxicology department of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Port Harcourt. Dr. Shorinwa research is principally focused on ethnopharmacology which consists of the evaluation of the pharmacological and toxicological effects of medicinal plants. She studies the potential anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of plants in search of lead drugs for development. Dr. Shorinwa’ s research also examines the safety profile of medicinal plants and herbal medicines which may assist the public to make informed decisions in respect of their health. She is also involved in drug use review studies. She has several publications to her credit. Dr. Shorinwa obtained her PhD and MSc. in Pharmacology from the University of Port Harcourt, while she earned her B. Pharm from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State. She is a fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists. She has presented several papers at both national and international conferences as well as served on some conference committees. She was a former acting head of department and has served on some committees within the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the University. Her prior experience includes work at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Port Harcourt from where she moved on to Community Pharmacy practice as a Pharmacist with EJ Pharmaceuticals Limited and later as the Director of Seron Pharmacy Limited where she learnt the rudiments of business and staff administration with management of patient health issues including financial, inventory and stock management.

Dr. Cecilia Nwadiuto Obasi

Dr. Cecilia Nwadiuto Obasi is a Senior Lecturer and Head of department of Experimental Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. She teaches undergraduate Pharmacy students as well as post graduate (MSc and PhD) students.
Cecilia holds a doctorate degree from the University of Manchester, UK. Her PhD at the University of Manchester, UK, involved rigorous training in Enzymology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology. This research was on ‘Biochemical and Drug Targeting Studies of Mycobacterium tuberculosis Cholesterol Oxidase P450 Enzymes’. She worked on the expression and characterization of cytochrome P450 enzymes from the human pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). Other important work done involved collaborations with researchers at the University of Cambridge UK, which related to fragment-based screening studies of these P450s, leading to the development of compounds able to inhibit the Mtb cholesterol oxidizing P450s. Cecilia is an Alumna of the Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowship. For this fellowship, grant recipients are selected based on their leadership capabilities as well as scientific talents. Following her PhD studies, she has carried out independent research in the area of Pharmacokinetics, Drug interaction and Toxicology.
Current projects include:
- Drug interactions involving cytochrome P450s, OATP and P-glycoprotein substrates and common staple foods. She is investigating several substrates metabolized by this enzyme and the possible clinical implications of interactions with food components in order to enable therapeutic strategies.
- Toxicology of heavy metals and plasticizers (Bisphenol A and Phthalates).
Cecilia has over 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals with H-index 16 in google scholar.

Biography
AFIEROHO, Ozadheoghene Eriarie is currently a Professor of Phytomedicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Analysis in the Department of Pharmacognosy and Phytotherapy, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, as well as being the Acting Director, Institute of Natural Medicine, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He is a year 2004 Batch B National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) state honours award winner for community development initiatives in Oyo State, Nigeria and a year 2015 Royal Society of Chemistry/JWT Jones post-doctoral research Fellow. He has over eighteen years research and teaching experience cutting across industry pharmaceutical R&D, and university level teaching/research with over thirty (60) peer-reviewed publications in the areas of Phytomedicines, pharmaceutical analysis, nutrition and toxicology. Some of these research publications have earned him international recognition like the RSC-P&G and RSC-PACN Best poster abstract presenter awards. Since obtaining a Ph.D. in 2014, he has successfully supervised and graduated four PhDs and eleven Masters students and currently supervising several others. His long term research goal is to develop a data base of metabolites from indigenous medicinal plants and their dosage forms in Nigeria that could serve as leads for drug development, and for biomarkers in the development of monographs for their standardization and quality assessment. He is also interested in the discovery and development of plant-derived eco-friendly agro-chemicals for sustainable foods and health. He is married to Mercy C Afieroho- the help meet for him.

Biography
Mikailu Suleiman received BSc in Botany from the University of Ilorin in 2003. He bagged MSc in Pharmacognosy in 2010 and PhD in Pharmacognosy and Phytotherapy in 2019 from the University of Ibadan and University of Port Harcourt respectively. He joined the University of Port Harcourt as an Assistant Lecturer in 2012 and rose to Senior Lecturer in 2022. His research interests are broadly in medicinal plants usage and drug development, standardization of herbal medicines and herbal preparations.

He is the past dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Port Harcourt; Chairman, Committee of Deans of Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN); Member, Law and Ethics Committee and Education Committee of PCN, former Head of Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology and have also served as Head of Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UNIPORT. He has served in Professional Ethics Committee and Examination Committee of University of Port Harcourt. He has also served as External Examiner at University of Nigeria, Nsukka, University of Benin, University of Ibadan, University of Uyo, Kaduna State University, Madonna University, etc. He had been a member of Accreditation Panel to several universities such as: University of Gombe, David Umahi University, etc. He has travelled to several countries such as: United Kingdom, China, Israel, United States of America, Japan, Liberia, Cameroun, etc. for conferences and to deliver academic research papers. Ofoefule, Sabinus Ifeanyi PhD, is a Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology and Industrial Pharmacy, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. NWACHUKWU, NKEMAKOLAM (Ph.D)

Nwachukwu, Nkemakolam is a licensed pharmacist and Associate Professor who currently practices in Nigeria.. He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degrees of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria acquired in June 1988, July 2012 and March 2017 respectively. His area of specialization is in pharmaceutical technology and industrial pharmacy. His working experience cuts across many fields of pharmacy practice which includes the industry, community and academics. His research interest is in the area of drug delivery with particular emphasis in powder and tablet technology, nanotechnology and herbal drug delivery. Some of his research work has been published as articles in many reputable online journals. He served as the Acting Head, Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology from May 2022 to May 2024. DR. JOHN IKECHI ORDU

Dr. John Ordu holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology and Industrial Pharmacy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (2017), and a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Jos (1992).
Dr. Ordu has over 30 years of experience in academia and the pharmaceutical industry. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Port Harcourt, where he also serves on various committees, including the University Senate Committee and the Research and Intellectual Property Faculty. He has also held administrative roles such as Acting Head of Department from 2020 to 2022.
Prior to his current academic role, Dr. Ordu worked as a Compliance Manager at SKG Pharma Nigeria Limited in Lagos from 2012 to 2013. His research focuses on drug delivery systems, excipient characterization, and the use of natural polymers in pharmaceutical formulations. His PhD thesis examined the potential of gum from the Cochorus olitorius plant as an excipient for nano and micro drug delivery systems.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Ordu has authored over 47 publications in both local and international journals. He is a regular reviewer for several prestigious journals, including the Nigerian Journal of Clinical Practice and the Asian Journal of Advanced Research and Reports. His professional affiliations include membership in the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria and the Nigerian Association of Pharmacists in Academia. Dr. Ordu actively participates in community service and is an adviser to the Ozuoha Elites Club in his hometown.

Dr. S.O. Abali is a dependable, research/ business minded, innovative and God fearing christian pharmacist. He is a faithful husband and father and a true teacher to his students. Dr. S.O. Abali is a licensed pharmacist in Nigeria.. He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degrees of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria acquired in October 2004, December, 2009 and April, 2024 respectively. His area of specialization is in Pharmaceutical Technology and Industrial Pharmacy with more emphasis on Application of Nanotechnology in Drug Delivery, Pharmaceutical Raw Material/Equipment Development and Pharmaceutical Product Development. His working experience cuts across many fields of pharmacy practice which includes the industry, community, hospital and academics. Some of his research work in the aforementioned areas have been published as articles in many reputable local and international journals. Dr. Adaeze S. Ucheokoro is presently working as Lecturer at Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. She has obtained her PhD in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology from University of Uyo, Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, Nigeria. She has also undergone several trainings and obtained certifications on the following Courses: Leadership and Management in Global Health, Policy and Advocacy in Global Health, Project Management in Global Health, Economic Evaluation in Global Health, Antimicrobial Resistance Course, Peer Group Education, and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). She obtained Diploma in Computing and Basic Programming and a Certification from Lagos State Human Vocational School.
Previously, Dr. Adaeze S. Ucheokoro was hired by Gregory University Uturu, Abia State as the pioneer Lecturer of the Faculty of Pharmacy. In 2019 the same University appointed her as the Ag. Head of Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Administration and was appointed the Ag. Head of Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology in January 2020.
As a Lecturer in University of Port Harcourt, Dr. Adaeze S. Ucheokoro was appointed as the Departmental Timetable Officer in 2021 and Departmental Examination Officer in 2022 till date. In 2021, she was elected as the Financial Secretary of the Nigerian Association of Pharmacists in Academia and presently the Public Relations Officer of the same association.
She believes in tremendously growing system based on professional streaming and impacting knowledge through coaching and training on indigenous and global researches. Prof. S. E. UKWUEZE graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka with a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm; 2000), Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm; 2003) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Medicinal Chemistry (Ph.D; 2014). He was the pioneer staff/Acting Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, University of Port Harcourt. Prof. Ukwueze was the Associate (Deputy) Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Port Harcourt (2019 – 2022), and has served in many capacities as Acting Head of Department/Departmental Coordinator, examiner, curriculum developer, researcher, administrator, etc. within and outside the University. BRIEF BIOGRAPHY: Professor Ezealisiji Kenneth Maduabuchi, was employed in April 2011 and rose to his rank of Professor on October 01, 2023 in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry of the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Prior to this academic appointment, Prof. Ezealisiji has successfully practiced the Pharmacy Profession in all its ramification with track record of excellent administrative skill, having been intern Pharmacist at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) (1994-1995), served as Corper Pharmacist at the Nassarawa Specialist Hospital, Kano, Kano State, Nigeria (1995-1996), was a community Pharmacist at Agipharm Pharmacy Limited, Port Harcourt. He worked as a superintendent Pharmacist to Emelies Pharmacy, Port Harcourt. In all these areas of practice, he distinguished himself demonstrating high level of honesty and dedication. He obtained the Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree with Distinction in Pharmaceutical Chemistry which earned him an award as the best graduating student in 1993/1994; Masters of Pharmacy (M.Pharm; Pharmaceutical Analysis) in 2009; Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D; Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2017 with thrust in Pharmaceutical Analysis/Nano drug delivery.
Prof. Ezealisiji was able to attract a research grant of one million naira (₦1,000,000,000) from the indigenous drug manufacturing giant Emzor Pharmaceutical PLC, Nigeria in 2017. Through this research grant and in collaboration with some Professors from college of Medicine, University of Port Harcourt, he has conducted a bioequivalence study on `Lockmal` (Artemether-Lumefantrine anti-malarial tablet), a bio equivalence certificate was issued to that effect as the product was found to be bioequivalent to other innovator brands used.
Based on his research skills and interest (Pharmaceutical Analysis and Biomedical Nanotechnology) he has got efficient skills in Drug analysis, novel advances in both organic and inorganic Nanoparticles engineering and their biomedical applications (Synthesis, Functionalization, Drug loading, Characterization, Pharmacokinetic and Nano toxicological evaluation of these novel products). Excellent skills in the use of High-tech Nanotechnology equipment such as Transmission Electron Microscope, Scanning Electron Microscope and Zeta Sizer.
In terms of research collaboration, he has worked extensively with Professor Rui Kraus. M and Dr. Xavier Siwe-Noundo of Rhodes University, Grahamstown, SA. Currently, he has over fifty (50) published articles in highly rated journals to his credit. AREA OF SPECIALIZATION: My areas of specialization are Phyto-Medicinal Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry.
RESEARCH INTEREST: My research interest is to obtain potent bioactive compounds from medicinal Plants, which cut across anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic and anti-microbial activities and other related conditions. I have isolated, characterized and carried out the structural elucidation of six bioactive compounds from plants and also undertaken the synthesis of eleven analogues of a potent anticancer compound-Thymoquinone.

Dr. Amaka Awanye is a Commonwealth Scholar and a Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists. Her research interest lies in infectious disease research, with a bias towards immunology and vaccinology. She has worked on many projects in Nigeria and abroad, including studies on vaccine development, immunological assessment profiles, and antimicrobial resistance. She has authored book chapters published in Springer and IntechOpen Books. Her research projects have been published in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and won awards at local and international conferences. Dr Awanye’s scientific breakthrough in the structural characterisation of a novel vaccine candidate from Neisseria meningitidis, the causative organism for meningitis and meningococcemia, revealed a novel mechanism through which Neisseria spp. mediates mucosal resistance and promotes asymptomatic carriage and infection. Dr Amaka Awanye is a member of many national and international professional societies. She is passionate about training and mentoring young pharmacists and collaborating with colleagues and scientists in various fields. She is currently a Champion of the Microbiology Society, UK. Iheanyi Omezuruike Okonko PhD

Iheanyi Omezuruike Okonko (PhD) is a Teaching & Research Virologist, Immunologist & Molecular Epidemiologist with over 17 years of working experience in the diagnosis and epidemiology of HIV and hepatitis viruses, new, emerging, and re-emerging viruses, respiratory, gastroenteritis, haemorrhagic fever and arthropod-borne viruses in Nigeria. He started his academic career at the University of Ibadan, where he was first appointed a Tutorial Assistant (Biology) at the Bridge-Link Programme (2008-2010). Later appointed a Lecturer I at Lead City University, Ibadan (2010-2011). Then appointed Lecturer I at the University of Port Harcourt, where he rose to the rank of a Professor as announced on 9th September 2024 after the University Governing Council approval.
His current research focuses on genetic diversity and immunogenicity of viruses, drug resistance and tropism, all of which are highly understudied in Nigeria. He has over 500 publications to his credit and has demonstrated over the recent years his strong impact on Virology, Immunology, Vaccinology, Molecular Epidemiology and Public Health, Microbiology research and education through an array of publications and his involvement in teaching trainees from our resource-limited settings. His academic track records and extensive publications in the areas of virology, immunology, medical microbiology, molecular epidemiology and public health in a society saddled with several limitations/inadequacies, paint a picture of a dynamic and hardworking fellow who accepts challenges neglecting the odds.
Consistently, he is the No. 1 World Scientist of the Year at the University of Port Harcourt as announced by the AD Scientific Index-World Scientists and University Ranking (from 2020 -date), 42 in Nigeria, 837 in Africa and 114,512 in the World for the year 2024. He was a Fulbright Scholar & a Visiting Researcher at the New York University School of Medicine (NYUSoM), USA, and a Fellow of the African Doctoral Dissertations Research Fellowship (ADDRF) on HIV. He is the immediate past Associate Dean, of the Faculty of Science (the largest faculty) in the University of Port Harcourt. Consultant for United Nations and Ford Foundation, assessing the capacity needs and teaching/training efforts in the developing world. More than 100 presentations nationally and internationally; more than 40 publications in peer reviewed journals; book chapters in the health sciences.
