OPM Pledges Continued Support to University of Port Harcourt

The Omega Power Ministry (OPM) has pledged continued support to the University of Port Harcourt, while congratulating the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chike Princewill Rewhuamwhu Chike, on his appointment as the University’s 10th Vice-Chancellor.

The Founder and General Overseer of OPM, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, made the commitment on Friday, September 11, 2026, during a courtesy visit to the University. He expressed confidence in the leadership of the new Vice-Chancellor, noting that Professor Chike would bring to the University the same commitment, dedication and achievements that characterised his tenure as Rivers State Commissioner for Health.

Apostle Chinyere disclosed that OPM would engage with the University administration to identify and support a project capable of making a meaningful and lasting impact on the University community. He further highlighted the church’s scholarship initiatives, noting that beneficiaries of OPM scholarships are currently studying at the University. 

According to him, the University’s national reach and reputation for academic excellence make it an important institution for the advancement of education and human capital development.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chike Princewill Rewhuamwhu Chike, commended OPM for its sustained humanitarian interventions, particularly its efforts to support indigent and vulnerable members of society. He expressed appreciation for the church’s commitment to education and its support for students, describing the proposed collaboration as a welcome development. The Vice-Chancellor assured the OPM delegation of the University’s readiness to explore areas of mutual interest that would contribute to the development of the University and the wider community.

The visit underscores the shared commitment of the University of Port Harcourt and OPM to advancing education, supporting vulnerable members of society, and contributing meaningfully to community development.
