- Departments of Faculty holds post graduate seminars
The Departments of Physics, Geology and Microbiology had post graduate seminar sessions on the 28th October, 5th and 6th November, 2025, respectively, where PhD, Msc and PGD candidates presented research progress reports and course seminars. Academics of the Departments were available to assess, guide and enrich the academic discourse.
- Faculty Staff Attend Capacity-Building Workshop
Examination Officers, Course Advisers, and Heads of Department from the Faculty participated in a one-day capacity-building workshop held at the CBN Hall, University of Port Harcourt, on Friday, October 31, 2025. The workshop focused on enhancing efficiency in academic and administrative duties.
- Departments of the Faculty conduct undergraduate external examinations.
The Departments of Pure & Industrial Chemistry (PIC), Animal and Environmental Biology and Physics, successfully presented 2023/2024 & 2024/2025 undergraduate candidates for their external (viva voce) examination, between Monday 3rd to Friday 7th of November, 2025. The sessions offered the candidates the opportunity to effectively discuss their research work to the satisfaction of the external examiner. The Department’s academic staff and other administrative staff were also on ground to assist and provide insightful feedback where necessary.
- Faculty Staff Wins Microsoft ElevateHer Award
Faculty staff, Prof. Chioma B. Chikere, was last week named the Microsoft ElevateHer Winner of the Week under the AI and Technology Programme powered by Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng of the University of Cape Town, in partnership with Microsoft, Women in Tech, and ABSA Bank South Africa.
- The Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology rounds off Industrial training programme.
The Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology rounded off its SIWES programme on the 3rd of November 2025. Thirty-two Students from PSB Uniport and RSU participated in the 6-month SIWES programme.
- Faculty Staff Delivers Keynote at National Science Conference
Prof. Eucharia O. Nwaichi of the Department of Biochemistry, University of Port Harcourt, was the Keynote Speaker at the 40th Annual Conference of ASLTON in collaboration with NISLT. Her lecture, “Efficient Policy Matrix: Powering Sustainability and Productivity in the Science Laboratory Profession,” focused on strengthening policy frameworks to boost sustainability and productivity in laboratory practice.
- Microbiology Department Holds Board Meeting on Course Allocation
The Department of Microbiology convened its Board meeting on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, to develop the course allocation document for the 2025/2026 academic session. The meeting focused on assigning teaching responsibilities to ensure a smooth and effective session.
- Faculty Prayer Group Honours Retirees
The Faculty Prayer Group on Friday, 7th November 2025, celebrated the distinguished careers of Professors G.O. Abu, A.I. Harts, and Dr. Vincent Wokem, recognising their contributions and wishing them well as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
The Faculty appreciates the Vice Chancellor and the University Management for their continued support and commitment to the growth and development of the Faculty.
