Bishop of Niger Delta North Diocese Visits UniPort Vice-Chancellor, Offers Prayers for His Administration
The Bishop of the Niger Delta North Diocese of the Anglican Communion, The Rt. Rev. Wisdom Budu Ihunwo, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Chike Princewill Rewhuamwhu Chike, to congratulate him on his appointment and strengthen the relationship between the Church and the University.
During the visit, the Bishop congratulated Professor Chike on his appointment and offered prayers and blessings for his administration and the University. The solemn moment of prayer underscored the Church’s goodwill towards the new leadership of the University and its commitment to supporting the institution in its pursuit of excellence.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Bishop for the visit and the goodwill extended to his administration. He acknowledged the significant influence of the Church in his life and expressed gratitude for the values and guidance that have shaped his journey.
Professor Chike reaffirmed his commitment to leading the University with integrity and purpose, while upholding its mandate as a foremost institution of learning, research and service.
He further expressed his determination to advance the University’s academic and institutional standing, with particular emphasis on improving its position in national university rankings and strengthening its reputation for excellence.

The visit also provided an opportunity to explore ways of sustaining the cordial relationship between the Anglican Church and the University of Port Harcourt, particularly in areas that contribute to the moral, intellectual and social development of the University community.
The Vice-Chancellor thanked the Bishop for the visit and expressed optimism about continued collaboration between the Diocese and the University.
