UniPort Management Holds Strategic Interactive Session on Quality Assurance and Service Excellence

In a decisive move to deepen institutional accountability and elevate the standard of service delivery across all arms of the University, the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) in collaboration with the University Management convened an interactive session with key stakeholders of the institution.

The high-level meeting brought together the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Provosts, Deans, Directors, and Heads of Departments and Units for a comprehensive dialogue aimed at entrenching a culture of excellence, discipline, and responsive accountability across the University.

The session was set in motion by the insightful opening remarks of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Owunari Abraham Georgewill, who emphasized the need for excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement in the University’s service delivery processes. His remarks laid the foundation for a robust engagement, encouraging all participants to contribute meaningfully to building a responsive and quality-driven institution.

According to the Director of QA/QC, Dr. Austen Sado, the forum was a vital platform for reflection, open dialogue, and strategic alignment with institutional goals. He reiterated that quality assurance is not merely a procedural necessity, but a defining feature of UniPort’s identity. “Task completion schedules, job delivery timelines, and service responsiveness are not just tools — they reflect our University’s reputation and image,” he said.

He further urged every office to become a hub of value-driven service, anchored on discipline, integrity, and a deep understanding of the University’s mission and vision, which remain the bedrock of the QA/QC framework.

This strategic engagement, facilitated under the umbrella of SERVICOM UniPort, reaffirms the University’s commitment to transforming every unit into a model of timely, transparent, and effective service delivery. Stakeholders present echoed strong support for the QA/QC agenda and pledged renewed dedication to institutional performance, excellence, and service satisfaction.

The session concluded with an agreement among all leaders to cascade these values through their respective departments and faculties, ensuring that the University of Port Harcourt continues to shine as a model for quality academic and administrative practices.
