UniPort, Nestlé Nigeria, and TETFund Launch Career Skills Training for Students
The University of Port Harcourt, in collaboration with Nestlé Foods Nigeria and with sponsorship from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), on Wednesday, 26th June 2025, launched a vital career development training on Resume Writing and Interviewing Skills for students.
Declaring the programme open at the Ebitimi Banigo Auditorium, University Park, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Owunari Abraham Georgewill, urged participants to seize the opportunity as a platform to build essential employability skills. He stressed the importance of well-structured resumes and confident interview techniques as tools for thriving in today’s highly competitive job market.
The training, organized by the Counselling Intervention Centre of the university, was facilitated by its Director, Professor Ijeoma Ernest Ehibudu. In her welcome address, Professor Ehibudu encouraged students to explore their unique strengths, passions, and goals. “Your resume is your first impression,” she noted. “Learning how to present yourself with clarity and authenticity is a key step in unlocking career success.”
She emphasized the value of self-discovery and career alignment in a rapidly evolving job market, pointing to opportunities in traditional sectors and emerging industries such as technology, healthcare, and renewable energy.
The TETFund-sponsored programme underscores UniPort’s continued commitment to equipping its students with practical, market-relevant skills and bridging the gap between academic training and professional readiness.
The session was well-attended by enthusiastic students eager to learn, ask questions, and embrace future career opportunities.
