INDEPENDENCE DAY FELICITATIONS FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR, PROF. OWUNARI ABRAHAM GEORGEWILL TO THE UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT COMMUNITY ON 1ST OCTOBER, 2025

On this momentous occasion of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, we extend our heartfelt felicitations to all members of staff, students, alumni, strategic partners, and stakeholders of the University of Port Harcourt.

At sixty-five, we are called not only to remember the sacrifices that brought us freedom but also to envision the future of a greater Nigeria. We must see our diversity as strength, our maturing nationhood as progress, our resources as blessings, and our shared destiny as an unbroken covenant of greatness.

The University of Port Harcourt, as a citadel of learning, remains committed to nurturing the minds that will lead this transformation, develop solutions to national challenges, and foster a culture of innovation, discipline, and patriotism.

The symbolism of this anniversary is clear: we are an advancing nation with endless possibilities for prosperity, peace, technological advancement, cultural radiance, and global leadership.

The task before every member of the University of Port Harcourt Community is to transform potential into tangible realities, so that generations to come will celebrate not only our survival but our accomplishments both as an Institution and a nation.

As we celebrate this milestone, we urge everyone of us to commit ourselves afresh to building a Nigeria where unity is more than a slogan, where justice anchors governance, and where every citizen feels the embrace of a nation that truly belongs to them.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!
