In a significant step towards strengthening international partnerships, two academic staff of the University of Port Harcourt have departed for China on a capacity-building exchange programme facilitated by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos.
The team, led by Professor Kalu Wosu, departed on Thursday, June 12, 2025, shortly after the official visit and departure of Her Excellency, Consul General Yan Yuqing from the University. This development marks a milestone in the growing collaboration between the University and the Chinese government, aimed at fostering academic exchange, cultural integration, and human capital development.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Owunari Abraham Georgewill, expressed profound appreciation to Her Excellency for her continued support and commitment to advancing educational cooperation. He charged the team to be exemplary ambassadors of the University and Nigeria at large during their stay in China.
This exchange programme is part of broader efforts to position the University of Port Harcourt as a global institution through strategic international collaborations.
