Brief Biography

Mrs. Nsereka Leton Rebecca is a distinguished Information Technology professional, educator, administrator, and cybersecurity enthusiast with over fifteen years of progressive experience in higher education administration, information systems management, network operations, and digital transformation. She currently serves as Senior Assistant Registrar (LAN) at the Centre for Information and Telecommunication Engineering (CITE), University of Port Harcourt, where she leads publicity, technical operations, network security, portal management, and digital communication initiatives. 

With a strong academic background in Information Technology and Information Systems, Rebecca holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Information Technology from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the University of Port Harcourt. She earned her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Port Harcourt and is currently completing her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Information Systems and Technology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. 

Throughout her career at the University of Port Harcourt, Mrs. Nsereka contributed significantly to institutional development through her expertise in information systems, database management, network administration, student records digitization, and ICT capacity building. She has served in various strategic roles across the Information and Communication Technology Centre, Staff Training and Development Unit, Registry, and Centre for Information and Telecommunication Engineering. Her contributions include student data management, transcript processing automation, network administration, staff development programs, and the digital transformation of critical university student records. 

Mrs. Nsereka is highly skilled in Cybersecurity, System Administration, Database Management, Microsoft Office Packages, Graphics Design, Digital Marketing,  and Network Management. She continuously updates her professional competencies through certifications/trainings in cybersecurity, generative artificial intelligence, Microsoft Security Copilot, social media management, CCNA networking, and system administration. 

A passionate educator and mentor, she combines technical expertise with exceptional communication and leadership abilities. Her experience spans classroom teaching, staff training, academic administration, and community leadership. She is recognized for her integrity, organizational skills, commitment to excellence, and ability to foster collaborative learning and professional growth. 

Mrs. Nsereka is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Computer Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), Nigerian Network Operators Group (NgNOG), Nigerian Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT), and Cisco Networking Academy. She is also a Fellow of the Nigerian School of Internet Governance (NSIG), reflecting her dedication to advancing digital innovation, responsible technology use, and internet governance in Nigeria and beyond. 

Driven by a passion for research, innovation, and service, Mrs. Nsereka Leton Rebecca continues to contribute to the advancement of information technology, cybersecurity awareness, digital education, and institutional excellence, making a lasting impact within academia and the broader community. Mrs. Nsereka is married to Prof. Barigbon Gbara Nsereka, and their union is blessed with four children, Mercy, Prosper, Beulah, and Zenith.
