I am a Plant Ecologist with specialty in remediation of hydrocarbon and heavy metal polluted sites, I have over 10 years of experience in bioremediation research and have published quality research articles in both local and international journals. I have a B.Sc. in Plant Science and Biotechnology (Environmental Option), M.Sc. and PhD in Plant Ecology from the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. I am a Lecturer I in School of Science Laboratory Technology, Department of Biology and Biotechnology University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria and my responsibility includes: teaching, student’s research supervision, grading and personal research.
My research focuses on:
- Remediation of hydrocarbon and heavy metal polluted sites using biological approaches.
- The use of locally sourced and available plant waste (parts or residues) as bio-stimulation materials to fast track the recovery of hydrocarbon impacted soil
- Assessment of plant species for their phytoremediation and bioaccumulation potential.
- Plant-microbe interactions.
- Ethno-medicinal study of plants.
My research has contributed the following to knowledge
- The use of Andropogon tectorum and Chromolaena odorata for effective phytoremediation of Crude oil contaminated sites.
- The use of urea and cassava peels as phyto-remediation enhancers in the degradation of hydrocarbon in Crude oil contaminated sites.
