HAPPY WORKERS DAY FELICITATIONS FROM PROF. OWUNARI ABRAHAM GEORGEWILL, VICE-CHANCELLOR, UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT TO ALL STAFF AND STAKEHOLDERS OF THE UNIQUE UNIPORT ON THE 2025 WORKERS’ DAY CELEBRATION ON 1ST OF MAY, 2025

Distinguished members of staff and stakeholders of the University of Port Harcourt, on this momentous occasion of Workers’ Day, we bring you greetings and profound appreciation.

Today is one of those days we must pause to acknowledge and celebrate the dignity of labour and honor men and women whose commitment, service, and sacrifice keep the heart of the University of Port Harcourt beating.

We are fortunate to have the best of institutional players as teaching and non-teaching staff. You are the invisible hands behind the scenes—that work tirelessly to ensure the smooth operation of this University and we deeply value you.

Your unwavering dedication, even in the face of personal and institutional challenges, is not lost on us. Your early mornings, long hours, and quiet acts of responsibility and service speak volumes about your character, your resilience, and your belief in the transformative power of education.

Indeed, it is our collective labour that sustains the good name and enduring legacy of the University of Port Harcourt. You are the stewards of our shared vision and the guardians of excellence in our academic enterprise.

Without your daily contributions, there would be no classrooms to teach in, no grounds to walk through, no records to process, no security to safeguard our spaces, and no inspiration to look forward with hope.

You are not just workers—you are pillars of this institution. As we mark this special day, we urge you to remain steadfast in your pursuit of excellence, honest in your service, and ethical in your conduct.

Together, let us continue to build a University that is not only globally competitive but also deeply rooted in the values of dignity, integrity, and purpose.

We also extend our goodwill to the entire Nigeria labour force; your hard work has not gone unnoticed. Let us continue to believe in a better Nigeria and to continue to do what is right even when it is hard.

As we look to the future, we charge you to remain unwavering in your commitment to excellence, integrity, and ethical service delivery. Let us continue to uphold the values that define the University of Port Harcourt and work together to create an institution and a nation we are all proud of.

Happy Workers’ Day!
