INTRODUCTION
The Chair uses this opportunity to thank the management of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) for renewing the NNPC/SPDC JV - Aret Adam professorial Chair in Petroleum and Gas Engineering University of Port Harcourt after five (5) year of dormancy. The confidence reposed on the University is well appreciated.
The position of the Chair was advertised and vied for by interested persons. After a successful interview, the occupant was appointed on the 1st of March, 2021 and the office of the Chair was inaugurated on the 25th of March, 2021 at the Institute of Petroleum Studies (IPS) auditorium University of Port Harcourt
The Chair operates within the framework of the guiding principle of the Trust Deed which is committed to achieving its purpose as stated in Schedule 3 of the Trust.
SCHEDULE 3: GUIDING PRINCIPLE OF THE TRUST DEED
a) Support the petroleum Engineering Department of the University to become a centre that promotes teaching, research and development in Petroleum Engineering through the NNPC/SPDC JV-Aret Adams Professorial Chair
b) Assist to evolve symbiotic relationships between the Academia and the Oil and Gas Industry
c) Enable SPDC invest in value-adding research and development (R&D) activities in Petroleum Engineering for the benefit of the Oil and Gas industry and the national economy.
