International Women's Day Celebration
Each year around the world, International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8. The theme for this year is “The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum”. Organizations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women's groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day. The IWD is celebrated to inspire women and celebrate their achievements (economic, political and social or cultural). The President of the University of Port Harcourt Women Association (UPWA), Mrs. M. F. Ajienka has indicated that Uniport women will join their counterparts all over the world in the celebration which will feature many events and activities.
