Senate Approves New Programmes

Senate of the University at its 465th Seating on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 approved new programmes. Among the programmes approved are PhD in Environmental Pollution Studies to be domiciled in the Centre for Marine Pollution Monitoring and Seafood Safety, Faculty of Science, PhD in Midwifery Care and PhD in Child Health Nursing to be housed in the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Clinical Sciences.

Other new programmes that got Senate approval include certificate in courses in Economics, Geography and Environmental Management, Sociology, Social Work, Marketing and History and Diplomatic Studies. Senate also approved the inclusion of Library and Information Science in the Certificate programmes and the re-introduction of Bachelor Science degree in Geography and Environmental Management.

The highest decision-making body also considered, ratified and approved degree results from Faculty of Social Sciences, Education, Engineering College of Health Sciences and School of Graduate Studies.

Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of Senate, Professor Owunari Georgewill, expressed gratitude to members of the Senate, stating that he was away for two weeks and returned to hear good news. He also announce some new appointments.
