UniPort Resumes Academic Activities as ASUU Commences Lectures

Following the suspension of the industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and resumption of academic activities, the Senate of the University of Port Harcourt has approved the release of revised academic calendar for the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic sessions.

A statement dated October 14, 2022 and signed by the Registrar, Dr Gloria Chindah, disclosed that the revised academic calendar covers the First Semester of 2021/2022 for Year One B and Second Semester for the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 sessions for all returning students.

The statement disclosed that academic activities began on Monday, October 17, 2022 with arrival of Year One B for the conclusion of their First Semester Examination which is expected to terminate on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

According to the Registrar, all returning students are expected back on campus on Sunday, October 31, 2022 while lectures will commence on Monday, October 25, to December 22, 2022. Examinations for the Second Semester are scheduled to hold between 16 and 28 January, 2022. The release has accordingly called on all categories of staff to be at their duty post to provide services to the students.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill, has on behalf of Council, Senate and Staff welcomed all lecturers and students back to campus and prayed for a fruitful and hitch-free academic session.
