UniPort-Trained Doctor Emerges ARD National President, Visits V-C

altPresident of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital chapter of Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Dr Prince Dan-Jumbo, has been elected National President of the Association. Dr Dan-Jumbo, who was elected at the last convention of the Association held in Kano, would be inaugurated during the Annual General Meeting of the body in Port Harcourt this September.
 
 
Dr Dan-Jumbo, who is serving his second tenure as UPTH chapter President, made the disclosure when he led the Executive Council of UPTH chapter on a courtesy visit on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Ajienka at the Committee Room, last Monday. 
The President commended the Vice-Chancellor and his team for what he described as several landmark achievements, mentioning the state-of-the-art equipment in the Faculty of Dentistry and N20m grant secured for UPTH as some of the areas his administration has affected the medical profession positively.
 
Dan-Jumbo, who expressed satisfaction with the University of Port Harcourt for producing some of the best brains in different aspects of medicine in the country, presented some publications of the Association, soliciting the consent and support of the Vice-Chancellor to co-host the forth-coming Annual General Meeting of the Association.
Responding, Professor Ajienka, congratulated Dr Dan-Jumbo for his election as national president of the Association of Resident Doctors, a development which he said would bring the national secretariat to Port Harcourt. Professor Ajienka promised the support of the University to enable its Alumni succeed in the assignment of providing an enabling environment for Resident Doctors to thrive in the country.
 
The Vice-Chancellor praised the Association for presenting its publications to him, urging it to sustain such effort as knowledge is being transferred through publications. He reiterated the assertion that products of the University are doing very well, citing the recent exploits of Dr Sandra Ofori at Imperial College, London.
 
Other members of the Executive Council on the courtesy visit are: Drs Oparaodu Ureh (Vice President), Gbujie Daniel (Secretary), Igunma Jerry (Assist Secretary), Uwazota Joseph (Public Relations Officer), Agiri Utchay (Treasurer), Ikonwa Christian (House Officer Rep) and a past PUMSA President, Briggs Otto.
