2011/2012 SSLT Certificate Programme Application

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for Admission into the Certificate Programme of the School of Science Laboratory Technology (SSLT), University of Port Harcourt.
This programme is for one year, at the end of which the candidate is awarded a University of Port Harcourt Certificate in Science Laboratory Technology with specialization in any of the following options:
(i) Herbarium Techniques and Management
(ii) Microbial Culture Management
(iii) Material Science and Electrical instrumentation
(iv) Safety and Environmental Techniques
(v) General Techniques and Instrumentation
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicant must possess the following qualifications:
- Five credits in English language, Mathematics, two relevant science subjects and any other subject, in not more than two sittings (GCE, SSCE or WASC).
Possibilities for further studies/to transit to the Degree Programme.
On successful completion of the certificate programme, candidates with the following:
(i) An acceptable score in the certificate examinations,
(ii) 5 credits in English language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology,
(iii) An acceptable score in 2012 UTME, would be admitted into Year One of the Degree Programme of the School subject to available spaces.
SCREENING OF APPLICANTS
All candidates who apply for admission into the various programme options of the School will be required to undergo a Screening Exercise at a date to be announced later.
