CALL FOR SUBMISSION OF MEMORANDA: PETITION AND GRIEVIANCES
The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen A. Okodudu, on Thursday, 6th August, 2020, inaugurated the Committee on Staff And Students’ Grievances. The purpose of this Committee is to hear, assess, review and recommend solutions to matters that border on such grievances/complaints by Staff and Students about sundry matters concerning their welfare and career status.
The Committee at its Inaugural Meeting held on Monday, 10th August, 2020, resolved to call for submission[s] on grievances that include, but not limited to the following:
- Allegation of wrongful dismissal and other disciplinary measure against staff
- Allegation of wrongful disciplinary measures against Students
- Allegations of other forms of victimization of Staff and Students
- Allegation of Improper placement of Staff at point of Employment
- Allegation of wrongful dismissal and other disciplinary measure against Staff
- Denial of Staff and Students’ right and privileges as protected by the Status of the University
- Issues relating to Non-implementation of Career Structure with regards to salary scale as guaranteed in the Status of the University, Staff Condition of Service and other Extant Regulations
- Issues relating to Non-Conversion of Staff to appropriate Cadre on completion of approved studies after acquiring higher qualifications
- Wrongful appointments and Promotion of Staff
- Denial of promotion for Staff as provided for in the Staff Condition of Service and other Extant Regulations
- Allegation of appointment and posting of Staff that are not in conformity with the statute and other regulations
Interested Members of the University Community are, therefore, requested to submit to the Committee twelve [12] copies/sets of their Memoranda/Petition/Grievance and other sundry matters concerning them. The submissions should be in hard and or soft copy [PDF, on flash drive, CD or e-mail], MUST not be more than five [5] pages [double line spacing] and addressed to:

Please note that all Memoranda/Petition/Grievances and submissions on other matters shall be treated in line with the Rules and Regulations as contained in the University Act; University of Port Harcourt Regulations Governing Staff Conditions of Service; University of Port Harcourt Manual/Handbook of Administrative Procedure for Registry Staff; University of Port Harcourt General Regulations and Statement of Academic Policies; University of Port Harcourt Student Affairs Handbook and other Extant Rule and regulations of the University.
