Monday, 13th – Friday, 17th December, 2021


1.  We received more cheering reports from the National Universities Commission accreditation teams to the University.


2.  A delegation from the University of Lafia, Nasarawa state visited the University to understudy our Exchange and Linkage Programmes and Advancement Center. The delegation was led by the Director, Linkages and Advancement, Prof. Mallam Al-Bishak who was accompanied by the Head, Resource Mobilization and Treasury.


3. We held a meeting with the National Universities Commission and the National Electricity Regulation Company on the idea of an independent power project in University. The University Management is still discussing with the appropriate stakeholders and decisions will be reached and communicated appropriately.



4.  We inspected the ongoing rehabilitation of the access road to the Post- NCE building at Choba Park and are pleased with the level of work on the site.


5. The 178th Inaugural Lecture series of the University titled “Taxonomic Complexities and Molecular Diversity: Ancient and Modern” was delivered by Prof. Ikechukwu O. Agbagwa. He emphasized on the importance of Taxonomist and advocated for the setting up of a plant reservation Centre in the University that will earn the University resources and make it a tourist destination.



 6.  The Basic Studies Academic Advisory Board was inaugurated with the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof Kingsley Owete as the Chairman of the Board.


7.   Also, we held a meeting with Morris Pizza Company on areas of partnership for mutual benefit.


 8.  The newly approved Faculty of Communication and Media paid a courtesy call on the University Management. We pledged our commitment to the growth and viability of the Faculty.


 9.  Similarly, we received staff and students of the department of Fine Arts and Designs who presented a well-crafted card to the Vice Chancellor. We applauded their creative ingenuity and pledged our support for creativity.


 10.  In recognition of our contribution to knowledge, the Past National Union of Rivers State Students Leaders Forum (PANLEAF) conferred on us the award of excellence.


 11. The meeting of the Tenders Board held on Friday, 17th December, 2021. Submissions of tenders were received, and contracts were awarded in line with the Procurement Act.


12. The University Management is glad to announce that the IPPIS team is billed to arrive at the University on Tuesday, 21st December, 2021 for the capturing of the newly employed staff. Further information will be communicated to the concerned staff.


13. We participated in the 10 years Anniversary Celebration of Tertiary Education Trust Fund. We are glad to report that the University of Port Harcourt received a prestigious award in recognition of our outstanding performance in the utilization of TETFund National Research Grant.


14. We were honored at the “Home Coming Event” organized by the Department of Pharmacology, University of Port Harcourt. We celebrated with them and pledged our continuous commitment to the growth of the Department.
