THIS WEEK IN RETROSPECT IN THE UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT (Monday, 21st – Friday, 25th February, 2022)

1. We participated in an International Conference on Continental Educational Strategy for Africa CESA-16-25 to deliberate on National Research and Educational Networks in Africa. The programme which held in Nairobi Kenya, was organized by the Association of African Universities.
2. We were at the Faculty of Management Sciences for the handover of the Asikiya Diri (Nee Nungo) Hall of Fame donated by Sobere Diri. We urged the Faculty to utilize the 200 seater capacity hall for improved learning environment.
3. We received a team from the First Bank of Nigeria Asset Management Company on a courtesy visit. We had fruitful discussions in the best interest of the University of Port Harcourt.
4. We also received the Board members of Total Energy and Management Team of the Institute of Petroleum Studies (IPS) who came on familiarization visit to discuss areas of mutual interest geared towards improving existing relationship between both Organizations.
5. The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion – His Grace, Most Reverend Dr. Henry Chinedum Ndukuba and his entourage were at the University to pray for the growth and development.
6. We are pleased to inform the University Community that the University Debate Club won gold medals at the just concluded National Debate which held at Kwara State. The team presented the trophy to the University Management and we encouraged them to keep up with the spirit of excellence both at Club competitions and their academic pursuit.
7. The meeting of Tenders Board was held on Friday, 25th February to consider tenders and grant approvals in line with the extant laws of the Procurement Act.
