THIS WEEK IN RETROSPECT IN THE UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT (Monday, 10th – Friday, 14th January, 2022)

1. We received donations of equipment from TOOLUP Foundation, Lagos for use in the Entrepreneurial Center of the Faculty of Education. We thanked them for their benevolence and charged the Faculty to use the equipment for the purpose they were donated.
2. We met with our NUGA contingents in preparation for the forthcoming NUGA games. Our Unique Uniport athletes are in very high spirits and we are hopeful of a resounding outing.
3. The University Career Counselors paid a courtesy visit on the University Management to intimate us of their activities and to chart a way forward for the University of Port Harcourt Counseling Centre (UPCC).
4. The Management team inspected hostel facilities at the Abuja, Delta Park and Choba Campuses for an on the spot assessment of the hostel conditions. We also inspected the ongoing renovation of Ashgrove Academy.
5. Similarly, we inspected the ongoing building of the staff housing scheme. We are glad to report that work is in progress and houses would be allocated in due course.
6. The 33rd Convocation Steering Committee and Sub-Committees met in preparation of the forthcoming combined Convocation Ceremony.
7. We feted the immediate past Acting; Registrar and University Librarian in appreciation of their dedication and service to the University of Port Harcourt.
8. The Alumni, College of Health Sciences visited the University to express their gratitude to the University and discussed areas of possible collaboration with the College.
9. The President of All African Students’ Union and members of the Executive Council visited the University to show their solidarity and appreciate us for student friendly policies.
10. We received the immediate past acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen A. Okodudu and discussed extensively on taking the University to a greater height.
