THIS WEEK IN RETROSPECT IN THE UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT ( Monday 30th October – Friday 3rd November, 2023 )

_The following events took place in the University from Monday 30th October, - Friday 3rd, November, 2023._
1. We participated in the Regional Workshop of African Higher Education Centres of Excellence held at Abijan, Cote'Ivoire. The Conference was aimed at discussing the impact of ACE programmes and its sustainability at various institutions
2. The University Management received members of the NUC Accreditation teams for the Department of Nursing Science, College of Health Sciences and the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, Faculty of Science. We are hopeful
3. We participated in the 1st Induction Ceremony of graduating students in the Department of Education Psychology, Guidance and Counselling.
Inductees were charged to uphold the oath of their learning and professional practice. The National President, Prof. M.U. Tambuwal recieved the inductees into the Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON).
4. As we continue to leverage on Alumni contributions to the development of our dear University, we are excited to announce that Uniport Class of 1986 will be hosting her reunion committee to invest in the excess of 100m in Educational Infrastructure project. The expected projects are off grid solar power, multi-media learning facilities, seminar amongst others is expected to contribute to ranking indices of the University of Port Harcourt in the world. This was disclosed during the courtesy call by representatives of the class.
6. We participated in the Seminar Defence of PhD. students of the School of Graduate Studies, University of Port Harcourt and we applauded their brilliant performances.
7. We hosted the exit meeting of the NUC accreditation team for the departments of Nursing Science and Pure and Industrial Chemistry. We commended the team for a seamless exercise.
8. The Department of Education Psychology Guidance and Counselling presented an award of best students' friendly Vice-Chancellor in recognition of our student friendly policies.
