NIAS Elects Etela Council Member

The Dean, Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Ibisime Etela, has been elected member of the fifth Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS) at the 9th Joint Annual Meeting (JAM) of the Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN) and Nigeria Institute of Animal Science (NIAS) which took place at Evelyn Events & Recreational Centre, Gwarimpa, Abuja. A letter signed by the Registrar/CEO of the Institute, Professor Eustace A. Iyayi which was addressed to Professor Etela and made available to the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Stephen thOkodudu stated that, Professor Etela shall serve in the 5 Council as representative of Deans for South-South Region from th17 November, 2020 to the next AGM in 2023. NIAS as one of the parastatals of the Federal Government, established by Law through the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science Act No. 26 of 2007 as Amended 2015, has the statutory mandate for professional resource verification and accreditation of Animal Science programmes in Nigerian universities and professional Animal Science practice in Nigeria. Meanwhile, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Okodudu, has congratulated Professor Etela on his election as a member of the Governing Board of the Nigeria Institute of Animal Science. Professor Okodudu said Etela's election into the 5 Council of NIAS was a clear recognition of his contributions to the Animal Science profession and a reward for hard work. He wished him the very best during the two-year tenure.
