VC Charges Auditors On Professional Ethics

By Sam Kpenu

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill, has called on Auditors in the country to be professional in the discharge of their duties. This, he said, is in line with the Federal Government’s agenda to institutionalise fiscal discipline, transparency, probity and accountability in the management of public funds.

Professor Georgewill gave the charge when Eddy Ette and Co, Chartered Accountants and Tax Practitioners, the University’s External Auditors visited him in his office to congratulate him on his appointment as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the University.

“You should carry out your exercise with due diligence to ascertain the true financial position. Do your job without fear or favour. It is only by so doing that we can control any institution’s finances,” Professor Georgewill said.

Speaking earlier, the Principal Partner of the Audit firm, Eddy Ette congratulated the Vice Chancellor on his appointment, describing his emergence as the will of God. He urged him to be a father to all by not discriminating.

He thanked the Vice Chancellor and his Management team for finding them worthy to carry out the assignment and pledged their readiness to accomplish the job satisfactorily within the stipulated time.
