UDSS Marks 39th Anniversary as VC Promises Support

It was a reunion of sorts for the ex-students of University Demonstration Secondary School (UDSS), as they gathered at their Alma Mater on Friday, November 26, 2021 to celebrate the 39th Anniversary of the School.
Welcoming guests to the event, Principal of the School, Mr Fidelis Weleria, recounted the history of UDSS, noting that the school gained recognition to conduct the Senior School Certificate Examination by the West African Examination Council on May 30, 1986. "From 1987 till date, UDSS has graduated over 7000 students, majority of who have distinguished themselves in various walks of life", he said.
He expressed appreciation to the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and the ex-students of the School for their contributions to the development of the School through various projects. The Principal, however, noted that despite the enormous contribution to the growth of the School, UDSS still has some challenges, urging the PTA and the ex-students not to relent in their generosity.
In his goodwill message, Vice Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill, who said UDSS holds a special place in his heart because his wife is a product of the school, promised to give his express attention to any issues or request that come to his table from the school. "On behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, staff and students of the University, I congratulate the alumni, staff and students as you mark your Founders' Day. I can tell you that not many private schools—primary and secondary, can boast of the calibre I see here as former students of the school. I know that UDSS is doing well," Professor Georgewill said.
The event also featured a goodwill message by the Alumni President, Dr Chukwudi Dimkpa, presentations by students, various categories of awards presentation by the School and Alumni Association to deserving students, amongst other activities.
