By Sam Kpenu

Ujunwa Nwankwo Caroline of the University of Port Harcourt has won gold and bronze medals at the World Shotokan Karate-do Federation World Championship held in Budokan, Tokyo, Japan.

Few months back at the NUGA games held at the University of Lagos, Ujunwa also won six gold medals in Taekwondo and Karate for the University of Port Harcourt.

Ms. Ujunwa has over the years shown great commitment and perseverance in her drive to be a household name in the martial arts space. She was also the first Nigerian ever to be named a Karate world champion in the open weight category when she outclassed over 600 competitors from 50 countries to clinch the coveted top spot as Karate champion in 2019. The interesting part of Ujunwa's success story is that she is equally committed to her academics and is one of the top students in her class.
