THIS WEEK IN RETROSPECT IN THE UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT ( Monday, 28th March – Friday, 1st April, 2022 )

1. The Board and Management of the Uniport & Choba Micro Finance Bank (U&C) met to evaluate the performance of the Bank and chart a way forward.

2. We inspected the ongoing construction work at the Social Science Annex building and the low-cost housing project for staff at Ghana-Ama. We are glad to report commendable progress so far.

3. We received representatives of the Bolyai University, Romania, led by Prof. Christian-Radu Chereji and we had fruitful discussions on mutual collaboration in programme sponsorship, exchange and linkage for staff and students. 

4. We took delivery of some brand new Toyota Camry cars, donated by some friends of the University for use by Principal Officers.

5. We inspected some items (file cabinet, medical equipment, tables, etc) supplied to the Department of Hematology under the NEEDS Assessment Programme.

6. The Alumni of the University of Port Harcourt Medical Graduates visited the Vice-Chancellor to discuss areas of possible intervention by the Medical Graduates in a bid to complement the efforts of this Administration in repositioning the University. We commended them for the visit and desire to partner with the University.

We sincerely appreciate the efforts of the University based unions in the quest for a better educational system in Nigeria and we are hopeful of a fruitful industrial action.
