THIS WEEK IN RETROSPECT IN THE UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT ( Monday 9th – Friday 13th May, 2022 )

*THIS WEEK IN RETROSPECT IN THE UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT*.

_Monday, 9th – Friday, 13th May,, 2022_

1. We thank GOD for positive review of all tetfund poor performing or abandoned projects in the University of Port Harcourt. About 7 massive tetfund projects at various stages of work had earlier been identified by us and appeals made for their completion. We were at Abuja to collect from tetfund letters for scheduled possible completion of these abandoned projects in the University

2. We also collected letters for Annual tetfund intervention for the year 2022 from tetfund

3. While men, women, students and children of goodwill slept, people whom we trusted with our safety on campus in delta park connived with yet to be identified persons to cart away diesel between the hours of 1am and 4 am on May 8, 2022 from the delta park generator house. We are on top of the situation to full unravel this sad occurrence. We will keep the university community informed on further developments in this regard

4. Principal officers met with the CSO and the security apparatus on campus to discuss issues of grave concern on security of lives and properties on our campuses considering the connivance between security and others in the diesel theft. The deliberations were fruitful and several decisions made to curtail any further incidence of security threat in the future

5. The Committee on environmental sanitation chaired by the DVC R and D met to fashion out the most appropriate way to ensure that our campuses are clean at affordable cost to the University

6. We received book donations from Dr. Mohammed Kyari Dikwa, _MNI_ (a former Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance). The donor who can be described as a lover of education and a philanthropist graciously donated the books for use in the University. The books will be distributed to the University Library and departments concerned.

6. As Government and the Unions continue to dialogue on the issues of the current industrial action, we pray for speedy resolution of the issues. We therefore encourage us all to remain hopeful.

Thank you.
