*RETROSPECT IN THE UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT*

Monday 8th – Friday 19th August, 2022

1. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Owunari A. Georgewill participated in the Strategic Planning, Development, and Implementation Course. We had collaboration meetings with the Breaking Barriers in Emergency Medicine group and AcrossAtlantic group on possible areas of partnerships.

2. We are glad to inform the University Community that Ms. Ujunwa Nwankwo, a student of this Unique Institution, who represented Nigeria, won the Gold Medal  in the World Title Open Weight Category of the Shokotan Karate-do Federation which held in Tokyo, Japan. We are elated by her performance. 

3. The University Management received Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in collaboration with Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Institutional Strengthening Initiative to conclude on all arrangements and commence the implementation of the initiative that will eventually result to the establishment of Engineering Innovation Centre. Part of the arrangements was the site visitation. The team was pleased with the site provided and promised to kick off in the shortest time.

4.  We also received a team of athletes in the company of Prof. Mathew Wegwu on a courtesy visit and had fruitful discussion on proposed inter-university football match.

5. We met with the Chief Executive/Founder of Across Atlantic, United Kingdom and had fruitful discussions on the possibility of setting up Uniport/Across Atlantic Erasmus Partnership to deliver on Science Park for innovation and incubation hub for staff, students and stakeholders of the University of Port Harcourt. 

6.  The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Owunari A. Georgewill, former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph A. Ajienka, DVC R&D, Prof. Iyeopu Siminialayi and Dr. Akuma Oji represented the University in a tripartite meeting between the National Agency for Science Engineering Infrastructure, the Great Wall China Corporation and the University of Port Harcourt. We had fruitful discussions in the interest of our University.

7. We participated in the Awards/Graduation Ceremony of the University Demonstration Secondary School. We are happy with the quality of students turned out every year and hopeful that the graduands would be good ambassadors of their Alma-Mata

8. Student Union of the University  led by Comrade Gift Akabuike  honored  the Vice Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill with a special portrait and plaque in honor of his tremendous contributions and support to students' welfare, empowerment, and development in Nigeria and the diaspora.
We commended the students for the honor and renewed our commitment to embark on programs that would positively  affect the life of the students and the entire community.

9. The University  Management allocated the Everyday Supermarket stores, to those who got allocations and paid for the stores. This decision was taken by Management  to improve the Internally Generated Revenue of the Institution
