V-C Inaugurates New University Press Board

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ndowa Lale, inaugurated a new Board for the University of Port Harcourt Press at the Committee Room on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, with a charge to the new members to turn the facility around to take on the increasing volume of printing jobs in the University.

Professor Lale commended the members for their willingness to serve the Press, urging them to work very hard to turn it around within the shortest possible timeline. “With the election of members from Congregation and others who were appointed to represent certain interests, the Board is now properly constituted and ready to fire on all cylinders. The University Press hasn't done well over the years and I am convinced that you have capacity to turn it around. The Acting Manager, Dr. Inyang Etido, has been doing a good job, but you should support him by charting a new policy direction to reposition the Press. How wonderful it would be if most of the things we print are done in the University Press. There is no reason why we cannot make our Press as efficient as other University Press houses,” he charged the new Board.

In her contribution, new Board Chairman, Professor Ebi Amakoromo expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for giving them an opportunity to serve. “We are very grateful to the University for appointing us to serve on this Board and we are trusting God that we would move the Press to greater heights in line with the Vice-Chancellor's expectation. We seek support from Management to successfully discharge our onerous assignment,” she solicited.

Other members of the Board include: Professors Olufemi Adesope and Gabriel Agu, Drs. Obinna Nwodim, Gospel Kpee, representative of the Registrar, Mrs. Philomena Etu-Efetor and Mr. Fidelis Okwuosa.
