UniPort Signs Partnership Agreements on Research

Outreach sponsorship agreement, between the University and a French company, AXA Mansard Limited and maintenance of the Godwin J. Igwe Professorial Chair in Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Engineering between the University and Trust Deed, are two of the recently signed Memoranda of Understanding by the University. The MoUs are part of the university's efforts to promote research. Signing the MoUs on Friday, September 30, 2022, in his office, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill said the University has been undergoing the process of finetuning some agreements with her partners, adding that the documents have been legally vetted for clarity and are ready for signing.

Briefing Principal Officers on the content of the MoUs, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Research and Development). Professor Iyeopu Siminialayi, noted that the MoU for outreach sponsorship between and UniPort Axa Mansard Limited is for a researcher from the University, Dr. Vivian Oguja. He disclosed that the researcher had earlier conducted successful research that attracted a grant by the French company to the tune of sixty thousand Euros, adding that the new MoU is for another grant of eight thousand euros meant for the second phase of the research and communication of findings to the community. On the second MoU, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor said, the University was entering into a partnership with Trust Deed, for the maintenance of the Godwin J. Igwe Professorial Chair in Gas, refining and Petrochemical Engineering.

Speaking after the signing, the Vice Chancellor expressed satisfaction with everyone who continued to put in efforts to make the University a global envy. “It is my belief that these things we have thoroughly gone through and agreed to do will yield the desired results”, the Vice Chancellor said. Those present during the signing included: The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Kingsley Owete, the Registrar, Dr. Gloria Chindah and the Acting Head, Legal Team, Mrs. Nwira Mbanefo.
