Mgt Visits Akpor Monarch, Solicits Support

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Port Harcourt, Professor Owunari George will h a s solicited the support and cooperation of Akpor Kingdom to ensure institutional and mutual growth of the University and the host communities.
Professor Georgewill made the call when he led the Management team on a courtesy visit to the Nyenweali of Akpor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Eze Levi Ozunwonwu Amos Orlu-Oriebe and his Council of Chiefs to Ozuoba, the Traditional Headquarters of the Akpor Kingdom.
The Vice-Chancellor commended the Chiefs and people of Akpor Kingdom for their peaceful disposition towards the institution, urging them to sustain the tempo. He promised the monarch that the interest of the Kingdom will always be protected under his watch.
He said “my visit is borne out of my desire to meet critical and strategic stakeholders of the University. I commend the people of Akpor Kingdom for their continued support for the university, and I pledge the commitment of the university in working harmoniously with you” he said.
Responding, the Nyenweali of Akpor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Eze Levi Ozunwonwu Amos Orlu-Oriebe assured the Management of Akpor Kingdom's support and collaboration to enable the university achieve its objectives.
“We will provide you with enabling environment to operate so that you can achieve even more than your predecessor, and always reach out to us for consultation” Nyenweali Akpor stated. The Nyewneali also called on the Management of the University to prioritize the welfare of the host communities and appealed for increased employment and admission opportunities and contracts for members of his communities as well as the
appointment of sons and daughters of Akpor Kingdom into positions of trust.
