The Bishop of Ohaji/Egbema Diocese of the Anglican Communion Rt. Rev. Chidi Okparaojiaku has enjoined Christians to continue to promote unity as commanded by the Lord Jesus Christ to attract unprecedented blessings and achievements.
Bishop Okparaojiaku stated this at the 2022 Annual Thanksgiving Service of the University of Port Harcourt which took place on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the Convocation Arena, University Park with Give Thanks to the Lord as its theme.
“Since the beginning of this administration, the Institution has witnessed God's unprecedented blessings that have kept us in awesome adoration of the Almighty God. It is based on these and more that we need to thank God for His manifold blessings on the Institution,” he said.
The Bishop noted that the relative peace enjoyed in the institution was the evidence of oneness in Christ and commended the staff, students and stakeholders of the University for supporting the Management team led by Professor Owunari Georgewill. He enjoined all stakeholders to work with unity of purpose to move the institution to greater heights.
Earlier in his address, the Vice Chancellor Professor Owunari Georgewill, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Clifford Ofurum, said the essence of the thanksgiving service was to thank God for His goodness and blessings upon the university,
“Time and space will fail us to clearly mention in details all that the Lord has done for each and every one of us and the entire university. Since the beginning of this administration, the University has been at the receiving end of God's favour that comes through generous donations and support from individuals and corporate organisations,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor who disclosed that during the year, the University established two new Faculties, namely: Faculty of Computing, and Faculty of Communication and Media studies, said the status of the institution has continued to rise steadily among the comity of Nigerian Universities, attributing these positive developments to God's grace upon the University.
